What includes the costs of a Home Equity Credit Line?

Briefly speaking, the costs include:

  • A fee for application (not fefundable if you were refused the credit)
  • A property appraisal fee (estimating the value of the house)
  • Up-front charges (at least one point which equals one percentage of the credit limit)
  • Other closing costs (attorneys, title search, mortgage preparation and filling, property, title insurance and taxes)
  • Fees during the plan (e.g. imposing the early membership)
  • A transaction fee (You may be charged it if drawing on the credit line)

You might thing that you will have to pay a great amount of money to establish this plan but be aware of the fact that these costs may increase if you were about to draw only a small amount against the credit line! Moreover this form of credit is one of the savest as your home serves as collateral.
